According to KPMG’s Global Construction Survey 2017 report, 92 percent of U.S. construction executives believe that technology will fundamentally change their businesses and help bridge the performance gap. Despite this belief, only 29 percent of construction company owners routinely use mobile apps to complete their projects. The construction industry has traditionally been slow to adopt technology, due in part to some of the myths surrounding construction technology, including perceived difficulty of use and implementation. Here are some of the biggest technology myths around jobsite adoption – and how to tackle it.

Myth #1 – “My Team is Too Busy to Learn and Use New Technologies.”

In the fast-moving, results-driven construction industry, project leaders and teams tend to feel constantly swamped and behind schedule – and over budget. It’s not surprising, therefore, that some contractors or jobsite personnel are reluctant to adopt new technologies because they simply “do not have the time.”

What these individuals are overlooking, however, is the end goal of the IoT and technology, which is to automate processes, streamline operations, eliminate double-entry and overall improve efficiency! Although it may take some time, research, and patience up front, the efficiency gains in the long-term are well worth it.
