Learn more about our integrations with leading construction solutions
Some 92% of the construction industry uses a smartphone daily for work, according to a new report from the 2020 JBKnowledge ConTech Report. And 63% of those surveyed are using between three to six (or more) construction apps on a regular basis to get the job done.
But those same workers are running into a frustrating conundrum: Many construction apps don’t integrate. According to the report, only 5% of respondents said that all of the construction apps they use integrated; 34% said it was three or less.
The result for many construction professionals is a smartphone screen with a hodgepodge of apps that can’t talk to each other or share information. And the workarounds to transfer data are time consuming and inefficient, sometimes leading to mistakes that could have a big impact on schedules, projects and plans.
According to the report, 49% of respondents said they transfer information manually; 44% use spreadsheets; 37% rely on comma separated value (CSV) files; and 29% have built custom integrations. Roughly 13% said they simply don’t transfer data.
ConTech report respondents called manual entry and spreadsheets the “antithesis of innovation.” After all, aren’t these apps supposed to reduce—or entirely eliminate—data entry and other time-wasting activities?
At Triax, that’s been our point of view all along and why we’ve built Spot-r, our wearable device that ensures workplace safety, optimizes manpower and automates timesheets and other manual tasks, to include an open API so other applications can easily integrate with our solutions. And we’re incredibly proud of the partnerships we’ve built with other construction apps and solutions.
Here’s how the integration between Triax and our partners help the construction industry get their work done faster.
Procore
Procore, a project management solution, is the most popular app for daily reporting, according to the ConTech report — some 42% of respondents said they relied on it. For several years, we’ve offered two-way integration between Procore and Spot-r.
When the two are synched, workforce data from Spot-r is shared with Procore for timecards, manpower, accidents and daily construction reports. At the same time, Spot-r users can bring in information about existing projects from Procore to quickly set up the Spot-r platform.
GoContractor
GoContractor is a popular worker management system where subcontractors can register and upload information, such as their credentials and safety training, for particular projects. Integrated with Spot-r, subs can use GoContractor to register their information and conduct Spot-r safety training.
Jovix
Jovix is an RFID material tracking solution that lets site managers see where materials are located across a construction site. With the integration between Spot-r and Jovix, users can identify which workers are in the vicinity of specific materials and, in Jovix, log a transaction when that pallet of bricks or lumber has been assigned to somebody.
Autodesk
Autodesk is a construction management platform that uses Building Information Modeling, or BIM. Integrating Autodesk’s BIM 360 and Spot-r, users can see the real-time location of workers on 3D BIM models, providing powerful insights into project and safety management.
Bosch
Bosch Bluehound is an asset management system that gives users full visibility into assets on jobsites, in warehouses and elsewhere. With the integration with Spot-r, users of both solutions can cut the traditionally manual process of asset tracking with a streamlined approach to monitor how long specific trades are spending on site; the exact location of tools and which workers are nearby; and whether the worksite has the necessary equipment to get specific tasks completed.
EarthCam
EarthCam is a leading provider of construction camera technology and services. Spot-r Access Control integrates with most standard, full-height turnstiles and gives users control over who can enter jobsites at specific times. Together, users of both Spot-r and EarthCam can get video clips that are logged every time an employee walks in and out of the turnstiles. The high-resolution video clips are so clear that viewers can zoom in on security badges and even a newspaper article.
Technology has brought us a long way from stuffed file cabinets and paper processes. But without integration, it’s easy to waste time on manual data transfers. If you’re still drowning in paper or frustrated with solutions that won’t talk to each other, we’re ready to help.
