5 Takeaways from Autodesk University

Tech has finally reached the construction industry. The explosion of useful, previously untapped data from a variety of resources at the jobsite can be aggregated and analyzed for actionable insights. When crews, managers and executives are connected to the same, real-time data and insights, they improve their chances of more informed, real-time response, helping to prevent unforeseen project risks and ultimately saving time and money. Last week, more than 10,000 people descended upon Las Vegas for Autodesk University 2017. This year’s event, dubbed “The Future of Making Things,” explored the rapidly evolving AEC technology and how it will affect the world we work in. Construction wearable company Triax Technologies is one such company that has partnered with Autodesk. Its Spot-r IoT-enabled wearable tracking system is integrated with BIM 360 to monitor workers and equipment on the ground. The EquipTag will transit real-time data about worker and equipment activity, location and safety with the goal to reduce jobsite risk.
